This quote features in a poster from Mexico where 11 women are killed every day making it one of the countries with the highest femicide rates globally. We want ourselves alive. It seems the very least women should be able to ask for. --- We are midway through the UN's annual [16 days of activism against Gender-based violence](https://www.unwomen.org/en/news-stories/in-focus/2022/11/in-focus-16-days-of-activism-against-gender-based-violence?ref=changeout.org) and as part of this the Queen Consort held a [reception at Buckingham Palace.](https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/nov/29/camilla-condemns-global-pandemic-of-violence-against-women?ref=changeout.org) So embarrassing that a member of the royal household was going round the event challenging people of colour who were there about where they come from. Yes, people. Not only [Ngozi Fulani](https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/dec/01/buckingham-palace-encounter-with-susan-hussey-like-an-interrogation-says-charity-boss?ref=changeout.org), but also [Nazir Afzal](https://twitter.com/nazirafzal/status/1598012831735042050?s=20&t=XGm2%5FWq7p910pJGxmQma2w&ref=changeout.org). I think the most surprising thing about the whole affair is how quickly it was dealt with by the Palace.
