Somewhere to say it out loud
If you care deeply about your work and you are carrying more than you are letting on, you will know how hard it can be to find a place where you can say so. Your colleagues need you to be fine. Your friends are tired of hearing about the job. And you feel that the people who might understand are too busy to meet for coffee.
The Changing Room is a private community I have set up for people working in charities, the public sector and mission-driven teams, who would like to be in the company of others who know what that is like. I spent thirty years in leadership in the non-profit sector, including time as a CEO, so I have sat in many of the chairs you are sitting in, and I will be in the room with you rather than watching from the side.
What happens inside
Every fortnight we meet online for a live Q&A with me. You bring whatever is on your mind, whether that is a difficult conversation you are putting off, a decision about your next move, or the creeping feeling that the work has stopped feeling like yours, and we think it through together. Between calls the community is there for conversation, questions and company, with members joining from all over the world.
It is a place to work things through, to be honest about the mess, and to hear from other people who are doing the same.
Who it is for
The Changing Room is for leaders and professionals who are good at what they do and still feel stuck. Maybe you are questioning whether this is still the right chapter. Maybe you are job searching right now and could do with some company. Maybe you are wondering what the next one looks like. Maybe you simply need somewhere to think.
Many of the people I work with are midlife women leading in the non-profit or purpose-driven sector, juggling a great deal outside work alongside everything they carry inside it, and you will find plenty of them here. But the Changing Room is open to anyone who is finding work life tough at the moment.
