Wouldn't it be wonderful if...
I sat down earlier in the week to write an "End of Year" post over on Linked In. Lots of them around right now. People doing great things and all power to them.
But whenever I feel some kind of pressure to perform and to conform, I find myself doing something different.
So instead, inspired by my friend Julie's prompt that she shared this week, I decided to focus on feelings rather than achievements. I may, or may not, share some of this on Linked In.
Julie's prompt is simple:
"Wouldn't it be wonderful if..."
Thinking about the feel-good moments of the year helped me see how much I have enjoyed being a student again, immersing myself in my coaching course and my Get Good With AI cohort. It has also helped me clarify exactly where I want to go next.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if...
next year, I could focus more on deep, one-to-one work through my coaching offer.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if...
I could help people navigate career crossroads with more confidence. Based on comments I've had on my YouTube videos, I know there are a lot of people our there wondering what next for them in their careers.
But not everyone can access 1:1 consulting, so I want to create resources that people can use in their own time. The first one I've developed is a "Should I stay or should I go?" workbook inspired by the many people who need helping deciding whether or not to leave their jobs.
If you are feeling the pressure to have a "perfect" end to the year, maybe try playing with this prompt instead.
Day of the Week 📆
Wouldn't it be wonderful if...
Christmas wasn't so pressured. People near us have many and varied and wonderful light displays. We had a look round yesterday.
Then got home to this - our £1.99 tree from Woolies that we've had for at least 20 years ❤️

What am I reading? 📚
Wouldn't it be wonderful if...
I could read 40 books a year.
Well, I've read 38 so far so I think I'm on track. Currently reading William Dalrymple's The Anarchy - The Relentless Rise of the East India Company
What am I watching? 👀
Wouldn't it be wonderful if...
Art could be for everyone.
This year's Turner Prize winning artist is Nnena Kalu who is the first artist with a learning disability who has won this prestigious award. Some more about her and her work here.
What am I listening to?👂
Wouldn't it be wonderful if...
Small groups with big ideas really could make a difference.
Rutger Bregman's series of Reith lectures are well worth a listen.
Especially this episode in which he describes the growth of the Fabian Society and how formerly unthinkable ideas such as an eight hour work day, public education, progressive taxation, votes for women became mainstream.
Joy-giving things 😍
Wouldn't it be wonderful if...
Aston Villa were third in the Premiership and I could meet their manager, Unai Emery.

Never say never.
Happy Christmas and see you in 2026.
Lucy ❤️
